I was thinking of ways to make this game better and came up with the following idea.
What if we made the season longer by having a schedule of matchups?
With this system, trading would work the same. Say we decide that before the playoffs each team will have 5-7 games. These games would be voted on by other GMs as usual. Once all the schedule has been completed the playoffs would begin.
Trading would continue until the start of the playoffs. This would allow GMs to assess their team vs. others to get a better idea of where they stand. Also allowing for additions to fill in holes that have been realized through the voting process. I think we all realize what our teams lack once others have commented on the makeup of the team.
I think this would create a much more competitive playoffs. Just an idea. Any thoughts?

If I understand correctly, on a thursday or friday during trading week, random match-ups would be set-up to get a feeling of how your team is viewed by other GMs. Actually, back in the days, I used to see threads of our match-ups on ISH... Not a bad idea... silly Old Bear...

This season I only filled the all spots of my team int he last day... How could I matchup against any other team without enough players? We need to think well in that details...

The lineup would obviously not be perfect but you get an idea of what other gms are looking at on your roster and what changes you may need to make.

Have the same about of trading....but have a season before it of about 5 games (1 week) and we total the amount of games and who won and they make it to the playoffs and do the consolation as like that. People get frustrated with the voting system and this could be the start f a new system that could work. Maybe it wouldn't be flawless right now but it could surely be a start.
Oh, and get rid of the troll GM's...

What about just changing the start of the season? If we started tonight or early tomorrow you would have a full weekend in the start of the year. I have noticed over the last couple of seasons trading is active early and dead late. Maybe it is some of the new GM's but I would think more guys are on early in the week and with more activity earlu maybe there is more chance to turn over rosters more frequently. I agree I try to make more trades toward the end of the week but that seems to be minimal with others now.

I'm not too hyped for this. The team I start with is nowhere near the same as the one I end with (as is everyone's roster). Besides, most of trades come almost playoff time.
