Well I would like to say I'm tired of that argument and it shouldn't be legit.
In game 6 of the Magic/Sixers matchup, Marcin Gortat filled in for the suspended Dwight Howard. Prior to this game, Gortat had only started in THREE games in his two seasons. He comes in and posts 11 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals in 40 minutes.
Marcin Gortat would like to answer to all the "Player A cannot be a starter", "Player A cannot play 40 minutes a game because he's a bench player", "Player A is a bench player, thus cannot start".

It can still be an argument... Here's why:
1. In that game 6, the sixers played a horrible game... they were unenthusiastic to say the least. 2. Gortat's main opponent was Sam Dalembert, not that much of a force anyway. 3. There is such thing as a career game, and in those a lot of players play out of their usual ability.
Also, this argument got arguably not work in match-ups but during the divisional playoffs, it would make a lot of sense as the divisional playoffs imo are like a regular season, and there is no doubt Marcin Gortat would choke if he had to start for an entire season.

Zach Randolph also started his career as Rasheed Wallace's backup. When Sheed was traded to Atlanta, Zach got his minutes and boom, "Most Improved Player" award. He's now a 20/10 machine.

Ok, I get what you're saying.. but when we're voting how are we suppose to know who will 'explode' if they get the minutes?

Ok, I get what you're saying.. but when we're voting how are we suppose to know who will 'explode' if they get the minutes? look at all the games he get minutes in he get either a Double-double or close to a double-double. He is a very strong down low. His dad was a pro boxer.

Yes, but we're still talking about a specific player... Stankg is basically referring to all bench players.
